Faith that Changes Things

4/6/25 Susan Allen

Rom 10:13-KJV  For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! 16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

NIV- 17 Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ.

FAITH comes by hearing but faith works by CHOOSING to act on what you’ve heard

James 2-faith without works is dead A corpse—   It exists but it does not produce

Example: Acts 14 of the crippled man at Lystra

Matt 7:24- Therefore whosoever  heareth  these sayings of mine, and doeth them,

I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:

DOETH: to adopt a way of expressing by act

How do you “adopt a way of expressing by act” the message you have heard?  How can you act on it?

25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat (to fall towards, rush upon as a storm) upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. (grounded, attached to) 26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man (dull, sluggish, without for thought, stupid as if shut up), which built his house upon the sand:27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat (strike at, surge against) upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

James 1:22-NIV  Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 23 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror 24 and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25 But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it — he will be blessed in what he does.

Ask God what your “DOING” is
