“Knowledge without application becomes boring and unfulfilling – every time.” Rick Renner
MAKE TWO COLUMNS: SPIRITUAL CARNAL
Eph 4:10-NIV He who descended is the very one who ascended higher than all the heavens, in order to fill the whole universe.) 11 It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, 12 to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. 14 Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. 15 Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ. 16 From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work. 17 So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. 18 They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because sof the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. 19 Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, with a continual lust for more. 20 You, however, did not come to know Christ that way. 21 Surely you heard of him and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. 22 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; 23 to be made new in the attitude of your minds; 24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.
1 Cor 3:1 KJV And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ. 2 I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. ¶ 3 For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?
Spiritual:non carnal, is to live a life guided by the born-again spirit, regenerate
REGENERATED-REGROW, speaks of a living organism that can REGROW new TISSUE to REPLACE lost or injured tissue! To bring new and more vigorous life to something through something NEW. Reborn.
CARNAL: fleshly, unregenerate, not changed- a life driven by the flesh
Mankind was made to thrive in maturing. In the maturing in our CHRISTIANITY many retire at birth.
Then they wait to die.
Our Spiritual/Carnal Columns:
Carnal: tossed, easily deceived, imitate the life of unbelievers, unfruitful thinking, darkened understanding, separated from the zoe life, chosen ignorance, hardened heart, lost sensitivity, indulging in impurity, driven by lust, overrides convictions, holds on to old self, refuses the strong Word, envy, strife, division,
Spiritual: growing in Christ, anchored in sound doctrine, speaks the truth in love, unity, active in the body of believers, imitates God, productive thinking, seek to be enlightened in the truth, partakers of Zoe, pliable/teachable heart, sensitive, override the flesh, seek to hear the teaching of truth, put off old self, put on new self, determined to mature, willingly take strong Word

(HE carried it! I don’t have to…I WON’T) Mal 4:2 But unto those who revere and worshipfully fear My name shall the Sun of Righteousness arise with healing in His wings and His beams, and you shall go forth and gambol like calves [released] from the stall and leap for joy. (I will do what prospers my soul and health will follow) Isa 58:6-8 Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?7 Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh?8 Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the Lord shall be thy rearward. ( I do the works of Christ and my health SPRINGS FORTH SPEEDILY) Prov 16:24 My Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to my bones. I do not let them depart from my eyes; I keep them in the midst of my heart. For they are life unto me, and health to all my flesh. (HIS WORDS ARE LIFE TO ME AND HEALTH TO EVERY CELL OF MY BODY) Prov 3:7-8 I will not be wise in mine own eyes: I fear the Lord, and depart from evil.8 It shall be health to my navel, and marrow to my bones. (see Romans 12:1-) Heb 5:11-NIV We have much to say about this, but it is hard to explain because you are slow to learn. 12 In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God's word all over again. You need milk, not solid food! 13 Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. 14 But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil. 6:1 Therefore let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death, and of faith in God, 2 instruction about baptisms, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. 3 And God permitting, we will do so. What is the difference between Milk and solid food? WHAT IS THE BENEFIT of solid food over an all milk diet? There is a healthy transition from milk to meat 1 Cor 3:1 NIV Brothers, I could not address you as spiritual but as worldly — mere infants in Christ. 2 I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready. 3 You are still worldly. For since there is jealousy and quarreling among you, are you not worldly? Are you not acting like mere men? 4 For when one says, "I follow Paul," and another, "I follow Apollos," are you not mere men? AMP: 1 HOWEVER, BRETHREN, I could not talk to you as to spiritual [men], but as to nonspiritual [men of the flesh, in whom the carnal nature predominates], as to mere infants [in the new life] in Christ 2 I fed you with milk, not solid food, for you were not yet strong enough [to be ready for it]; but even yet you are not strong enough [to be ready for it], 3 For you are still [unspiritual, having the nature] of the flesh [under the control of ordinary impulses]. For as long as [there are] envying and jealousy and wrangling and factions among you, are you not unspiritual and of the flesh, behaving yourselves after a human standard and like mere (unchanged) men? Titus 2 calls out the aged to be mature example setters, a pattern to live by and teachers of beautiful/good things Maturity: Maturity can be defined as the ability to respond to the environment in an appropriate manner. This includes the ability to control emotions, act responsibly, and consider the well-being of oneself and others. The ability to make well informed decisions. We can measure our spiritual maturity in different areas of our lives by our response. Where do I need to grow up?
